Tryouts for Fall 2015 MHRC Team to be held August 22 & 23 - Tryout Registration Due by August 17

All rowers who are interested in participating in the fall 2015 season will need to attend tryouts at Cherry Creek Reservoir on August 22 AND 23 from 7:30 -9:30 a.m. All old and new rowers who want to row this fall should plan to particpate. Rowers must be in grades 8-12 and have participated in MHRC's Learn to Row Camp or a similar program. There will be a $50 fee to tryout, which will not be refunded if the rower does not make the team. If they do make the team, the $50 fee will be applied to the fall registration and regatta fees.  Before registering, read the details below.  To register for tryouts, please click here: https://rockymountainregister.com/enroll/mhrc/login.asp?programid=7

During tryouts, each rower will complete a series of erg tests as well as have their on-the-water rowing analyzed.  Each rower will also be weighed and have their height checked (minimum 100 pounds for rowers and 5'3" for female rowers and 5'5" for male rowers). The rower's weight will be used to determine weight to strength ratio as well as to determine lightweight status. The team's newly adopted lightweight policy will be shared soon. Coxswains will be assessed on their ability to control a boat.

Rowers will be notified of their status with the team by August 24. Prior to registering for the team, all rowers must determine their ability to meet the requirements of being a team member.  Fees for fall membership and regattas (includes airfare, hotel, all meals, race fees, trailering fees) are estimated to be $1,675.

Fall practice will begin Wednesday, August 26. The girls' practice schedule will be Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. The boys' practice schedule will be Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Times are posted under Fall Team.  Attendance at all practices is mandatory unless you are ill.  Three unexcused absences could result in dismissal from the team.

The team will attend two out-of-state regattas. The Head of the Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, OK, is scheduled for October 3-4 and the Wichita Frostbite Challenge in Wichita, KS, is scheduled for November 1.

REGATTA ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY.  Rowers who are unable to attend one or both regattas should not plan to participate in the fall season.

A team information meeting will be held on August 29.  Parents of rowers who make the team should plan on attending.
